The St. John’s Mercy Hospital Emergency Department (ED) stands among our
region’s most valuable assets. For more
than 30 years, lives have depended on it … and many lives have been saved because
of it. Our ED:
- Remains the only Level III Trauma Center in the region
- Serves as a transfer site for major medical traumas between St. Louis
and Jefferson City
- Manages more than 30,000
emergency visits annually
- Serves eight ambulance districts
and residents of five counties
- Provides easy access to St. John’s Mercy Medical Center’s medical
and technical resources.
When the ED first opened in 1976, it was
designed to serve approximately 15,000
patients annually. Since that time, the region has grown exponentially. Despite a minor expansion project in 2002 (the first since 1976), we often work at double capacity, seeing more than 30,000 patients each year. |
