Function Testing
A dedicated pediatric pulmonary function laboratory is available at St. John’s
Mercy Medical Center. Capabilities include spirometry, body plethysmography,
impulse oscillometry, cardiopulmonary exercise testing, exhaled nitric oxide
measurement and bronchoprovocation testing.

Our doctors perform diagnostic flexible fiberoptic bronchoscopy and transbronchial

in an advanced operating suite with a Pediatric Anesthesiologist in attendance.
Emergent bronchoscopy services are available 24 hours a day.
Polysomnography
Multichannel polysomnography is available for evaluation of children with sleep-disordered
breathing, respiratory insufficiency or home mechanical ventilation. Other services
such as sleep studies with pH probe are available.
Infant
Cardiopulmonary Monitor Download Interpretation
Referring physicians can request either interpretation of home monitoring downloads
or they may refer the child on home monitoring for evaluation and management
of conditions such as acute life-threatening events (ALTE’s) or nearsudden infant
death syndrome (SIDS).
