SJMMG Patients Get Online Access to Electronic Health Record in Pilot at Family Medicine West

In March, St. John’s Mercy Medical Group (SJMMG) began piloting an application that provides patients with online access to a portion of their electronic health record (EHR) using their personal computers. The application provides patients with online tools to receive test results, renew medications, make appointments and communicate electronically with their physicians. A group of four family medicine physicians at SJMMG’s Family Medicine West—Drs. Lisa Burns, Susan Hull, Michael Richardson and Ray Weick—will be the first to offer this service to their patients. The pilot will initially involve approximately 25-50 patients. Patients who participate will be surveyed, as will the office staff, to help Mercy fine-tune the service. A second more comprehensive pilot is planned for later this year, with the goal of a full roll-out in early 2010.

SJMMG President and CEO, Dr. Tom Hale, talks about this pilot and the electronic interaction between patients and physicians ran in the February 25 edition of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch . Click here to access the full story.
