Timothy R. Smith, MD, RPh,
F.A.C.P. is the Medical Director
of the Ryan Headache Center. He
is board certified in the subspecialty of
headache medicine by the United Council for Neurologic
Subspecialties (UCNS), and board certified in internal medicine.
With a background in pharmacology, he has focused on
headache management for more than 10 years. Dr. Smith is a
Certified Physician Investigator through the Academy of
Pharmaceutical Physicians and Investigators (APPI) and a
Fellow in both the American College of Physicians and the
American Headache Society. He is a nationally recognized
researcher and lecturer on headache treatment who has
received numerous awards in recognition of his research and
teaching efforts, including the National Headache Foundation
Lectureship Award in 2001, the Kaplan Award for chronic daily
headache research and the Migraine Innovators Award.

James Banks III, MD is the
Associate Director of they Ryan
Headache Center. He, too, is
board certified in the subspecialty of
Headache Medicine by the UCNS, as well as being board certified
in Family Practice. He also is an APPI-Certified Physician
Investigator, has extensive experience in research and is a
noted national lecturer and teacher in the field of headache
medicine. Prior to joining the Ryan Headache Center in 2005,
Dr. Banks served as residency director for the Department of
Family Medicine at the University of Kentucky, Lexington,
Medical Director for the Carilion Family Medicine Center in
Roanoke, Virginia, and the founding Medical Director for the
Carilion Headache Care Center, also in Roanoke. He is a member
of the American Headache Society, the International
Headache Society, the American Academy of Neurology, the
American Academy of Pain Medicine, and the National
Headache Foundation, among other professional societies, and
currently serves as the chair for the primary care section of the
American Headache Society.

Jo Jaeger Bonner, M.D. is a
board certified neurologist
through the American Board of
Electrodiagnostic Medicine who
obtained her medical degree from the University of Missouri
School of Medicine in Columbia, Mo. She completed two years
of an internal medicine residency, then obtained her residency
training in neurology at Case Western Reserve University in
Cleveland, Ohio. She also completed a fellowship in neuromuscular
disorders at Saint Louis University in St. Louis, Mo.
Dr. Bonner is a member of the American Academy of Neurology.
Her primary focus is the evaluation and management of
headache patients. |

Kathy Erlichson, R.N., MSN,
ANP received her Bachelor and
Master of Science degrees in
nursing from the University of Missouri,
St. Louis. Before joining Mercy Health Research, Erlichson
served in several capacities at St. John’s Mercy Medical
Center: staff nurse in the surgical unit and the medical-surgical
ICU, head nurse of the acute hemodialysis unit and, most
recently, as a member of the adjunct nursing faculty. As a
study coordinator, Erlichson has worked on clinical trials of
drugs used to treat acute tubular necrosis and anemia. She is a
certified nephrology nurse and a member of the American
Association of Nurse Practitioners and American Association of
Nephrology Nurses. |

Rob Nicholson, Ph.D., LCP, is an
Assistant Professor of Research
at Saint Louis University School
of Medicine and School of Public
Health. He is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and a Certified
Clinical Trials Investigator through the Association of Clinical
Research Professionals. His clinical and research experience
spans a wide array of chronic diseases, including headache,
chronic pain, mood and anxiety disorders, attention-deficit disorders,
obesity, cognitive impairment, and cancer prevention.
He is principal investigator on clinical trials funded by the
National Institutes of Health-National Institute of Neurologic
Disorders and Stroke and the National Headache Foundation.
He is a member of the Society of Behavioral Medicine, the
American Psychological Association, the American Headache
Society, the American Pain Society, and the National Headache
Foundation.

Jill Stoneman, APRN, B.C., FNP serves as the Ryan Headache
Center’s nurse practitioner and as
a sub-investigator in numerous research
trials in various clinical areas. She received her bachelor’s and
master’s degrees in nursing from the University of Missouri in
Columbia, Mo., and has attended more than 20 continuing education
courses related to headache, including the Mercy
Migraine Management program. She has authored or coauthored
numerous scientific abstracts and papers on headache
management and education. She is an active member of the
St. Louis Nurses in Advanced Practice.
