Timothy R. Smith, MD, RPh, is Medical
Director of Mercy Health Research. He brings a background of Internal
Medicine and Pharmacology to the research division and has developed
expertise in other areas of clinical investigation, including diabetes
and metabolism,
cardiovascular medicine and neurology. Dr. Smith is a nationally recognized
researcher and lecturer on headache treatment. He was recently received
the National Headache Foundation (NHF) Lectureship Award for 2001. This
award is given annually to the top medical lecturer in the country
on
the topic of headaches. Dr. Smith is one of 105 individuals in the country
to be certified by the United Council of Neurologic Subspecialties
Board in Headache Medicine, and holds a Certificate
of Added Qualification in Headache Management from the National Board
for Certification
in Headache Management.

Rob Nicholson, Ph.D., LCP, is an Assistant Professor of Research at Saint Louis University School of Medicine and School of Public Health. He is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and a Certified Clinical Trials Investigator through the Association of Clinical Research Professionals. His clinical and research experience spans a wide array of chronic diseases, including headache, chronic pain, mood and anxiety disorders, attention-deficit disorders, obesity, cognitive impairment, and cancer prevention. He is principal investigator on clinical trials funded by the National Institutes of Health-National Institute of Neurologic Disorders and Stroke and the National Headache Foundation. He is a member of the Society of Behavioral Medicine, the American Psychological Association, the American Headache Society, the American Pain Society, and the National Headache Foundation.

James Banks III, MD is
board certified in Headache Management and Family Practice. Dr. Banks
founded the Carilion Headache Center in Roanoke, Virginia and served
as its first medical director until his move to Mercy Health Research.
He is a member of the American Headache Society, the International
Headache Society, the American Academy of Neurology, the American Academy
of Pain
Medicine, and the National Headache Foundation, among other professional
societies, and currently serves as the chair for the primary care section
of the American Headache Society. Dr. Banks has the Certification of Added
Qualification in Headache Management from the National Board for Certification
in Headache Management, and is one of 105 individuals
in the US to be newly recognized by the United Council of Neurologic
Subspecialties
Board in Headache Management.

Jill Stoneman, RN, CS, FNP,
serves as the Ryan Headache Center nurse practitioner. She also serves
as a sub-investigator in numerous research trials in various clinical
areas. She received her bachelors and masters degrees from
the University of Missouri-Columbia and has attended more than 20 continuing
education courses including the Mercy Migraine Management program. She
has co-authored three scientific abstracts on headache management and
education. She is an active member of the St. Louis Nurses in Advanced
Practice.
