St. John's Mercy Medical Center

St. John's Mercy Medical Center is a Catholic health care corporation, sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas-St. Louis Region, and a member of St. John's Mercy Health Care and the Sisters of Mercy Health System.

St. John's Mercy Health Care
St. John's Mercy Health Care is a leading health care organization that includes St. John's Mercy Medical Center in Creve Coeur and St. John's Mercy Hospital in Washington, Mo., as well as St. John's Mercy Medical Group (SJMMG), St. John's Mercy Health Services and St. John's Mercy and Affiliates. St. John's Mercy Health Care is a member of the Sisters of Mercy Health System.

Sisters of Mercy Health System

The Sisters of Mercy Health System (Mercy) sponsors a diverse range of health facilities and services in an eight-state area designed to meet community health and social needs. This includes nearly 20 hospitals, as well as numerous physician practices and other health-related services. It also operates Mercy Health Plans, a managed care organization.

St. John's Mercy

At St. John's Mercy, we make a difference by touching the lives of those we serve with compassion and exceptional service. With a total of 1,166 licensed beds, we are one of the largest Catholic-sponsored health care complexes in the nation and the second largest hospital in metropolitan St. Louis. Since 1871, we have been known for comprehensive family medical care, medical education, research, community services, and dedication to the Mercy values of compassion and caring for all members of the community.

St. John's Mercy Medical Center
in west St. Louis County comprises nearly 80 acres. The Medical Center campus includes: an 859-bed, fully accredited teaching hospital; the only Level I (highest level)Trauma Center and Level III (highest level) Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in St. Louis County;  the David C. Pratt Cancer Center with advanced diagnostic and treatment capabilities; the Women's Health Center, a two-story addition dedicated exclusively to mothers and babies and featuring all private rooms; a 120-bed Skilled Nursing Center; a Surgery Center that provides inpatient and outpatient surgeries; and a new nine-level Heart Hospital, with 96 private patient rooms and a new Emergency Department and Pediatric Emergency Department.

The Medical Center is one of about 400 U.S. hospitals to provide approved, formal graduate medical education programs to train physicians in various specialties. We believe everyone benefits from physician training. Medical residents and fellows learn to diagnose and treat in a well-organized system that provides technical support, collaboration and supervision by senior physicians. We also participate with other allied health training, including the School of Clinical Laboratory Science and the School of Radiologic Technology. Above all, patients benefit from the knowledge, skill, expertise and dedication that are applied to their care.

We also operate St. John's Mercy Hospital, a 187-bed community hospital in Washington, Mo.; the John F. Kennedy (JFK) Memorial Health Center, located in the Medical Center; St. John's Mercy Neighborhood Ministry, in south St. Louis; and the Dubuis Hospital of St. Louis, a 54-bed long-term acute care hospital in partnership with Dubuis Health System. We are also partnering with Centerre Healthcare to build a 50-bed rehabilitation hospital in St. Louis County which will open in the summer of 2007.

St. John's Mercy Medical Group
(SJMMG) is the physician component of St. John's Mercy Health Care. SJMMG physicians specialize in primary care and pediatrics.

St. John's Mercy continues to evolve to keep its commitment to the community. We collaborate with others to avoid costly and unnecessary duplication of services and to jointly respond to people in need. With St. Luke’s Hospital, we participate in the Affiliated Hospitals Dialysis Center, a regional outpatient kidney dialysis facility; and we use a lithotripter to break up kidney stones.  This technology is from the Midwest Stone Institute, a joint effort with several hospitals. We also share the Sleep Medicine and Research Center with St. Luke's.

The Medical Center is a leader in community-wide efforts, such as the annual United Way drive, the American Heart Association Heart Walk and the Komen St. Louis Race for the Cure.
