Heart disease caused one of every five deaths in the United States in 2002 according to the American Heart Association.  This is why St John’s Mercy Medical Center is dedicated to providing quality care for patients with heart attacks.  Heart attack, also called Acute Myocardial Infarction (AMI), has several national quality indicators that exhibit how successful we are at providing quality care for patients experiencing a heart attack.
