Nurse your baby as soon after birth as possible.

Breastfeed frequently to speed up milk production and provide practice with proper latch and positioning.

Do not give your infant water or formula unless directed by your baby’s doctor.

Delay using pacifiers for the first two to three weeks after your baby’s birth. Use this time to gain confidence nursing your baby and allow for your milk supply to become well established.

Drink lots of fluids and eat a well-balanced diet.

If you experience difficulties with breastfeeding, seek support from a certified lactation consultant or attend a breastfeeding support group.
