Child Development Center
Pediatric Therapy Services
The St. John’s Mercy Child Development Center (CDC) is an interdisciplinary diagnostic and treatment center for children ranging in age from newborn to teen years who are affected by neurodevelopmental disorders.
The center was founded in 1985 by Dr. John F. Mantovani, pediatric neurologist and current Medical Director, in collaboration with Dr. Eliot Casey, the Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics at St. John’s Mercy Medical Center. Their goal was to establish a medically-based therapy center for children with developmental impairments and to provide support for their families. View the services we provide.
Mission Statement
The CDC’s mission has been simple from the start – to treat children while focusing on the family. The CDC is a multi-disciplinary diagnostic and treatment program for children with medical and developmental disorders. Using progressive evaluation and intervention, therapists understand the neurological and biological causes of developmental differences. They work to translate that understanding into practical and supportive interventions that help make a difference in the lives of children and families.
Because we believe that children with developmental concerns deserve an opportunity to achieve their maximal potential and their parents and other family members are their best advocates, we commit ourselves to:
- Appropriate identification of children with developmental concerns
- Sensitivity to family’s central role in any intervention
- State-of-the-art therapy and intervention services
- Establishing and maintaining supportive working relationship with other programs
