Cleft Lip/Palate and Craniofacial Deformities Team
The Cleft Lip/Palate and Craniofacial Deformities Team consists of pediatric specialists who have extensive experience and training with cleft lip/palate and craniofacial anomalies. The team is under the medical directorship of Jeffrey L. Marsh, M.D. It includes healthcare specialists in the following areas: audiology, dentistry, genetic counseling, neurosurgery, nursing, ophthalmology, oral-maxillofacial surgery, orthodontics, otolaryngology, plastic surgery, psychology, speech/language pathology, and social work.
Patients are seen at the Child Development Center on team evaluation days. Specialists rotate into each patient’s room and, at the end of every session, the interdisciplinary team meets face-to-face to discuss each patient’s individual coordinated care plan. A comprehensive report is forwarded to all of the patient’s healthcare providers and an interpretive summary letter is sent to the parents and older patients. This approach provides continuity and increased quality of care. In addition to longitudinal evaluations of infants, children and affected adults, in-utero consultations and perinatal consultations are provided.
If you have a child with a cleft lip or palate or a craniofacial anomaly and would like to be seen by the specialists at St. John’s Mercy please contact Dana Kiley, cleft-craniofacial team coordinator, at 314-251-6581. Additional information about cleft lip/palate and other craniofacial deformities can be found at Kid’s Plastic Surgery.
