The focus of Physical Therapy is evaluation and intervention for children through adolescence with developmental, neurological and musculoskeletal issues. Individual therapy is provided for each child, utilizing specialized handling techniques along with a variety of therapeutic equipment. Parents are encouraged to observe and participate in treatment activities and setting treatment goals.
Physical therapists have advanced training and experience in a number of specialty areas, including:
- Cerebral palsy
- Spina bifida
- Genetic disorders
- Prematurity
- Developmental delays
- Torticollis
- Brachial plexus injuries
- Muscular dystrophies
Physical therapy offers the following services:
- Evaluation of gross motor function for babies and children
- Therapeutic exercise
- Gait training utilizing treadmills and the Lite Gait® System
- Neuromuscular electrical stimulation evaluations and treatment
- Fabrication of custom splints and dynamic ankle foot orthotics (DAFO)
- Therapeutic taping
- Custom splinting and casting
- Motor Group for children 18 months to six years of age with moderate delays in motor and sensory motor development
- Pediatric Orthopedic Clinic provided by an orthopedist and physical therapist
- Aquatic therapy provided in a therapeutic, warm water pool
- Large sensory motor gym that provides challenging experiences with ramps, slides, ladders, balance beams, trampolines and swings
- New state of the art pediatric fitness equipment designed specifically for children including:
- MOTOMED bicycle
- Strive weight system
- Free weights
- Elliptical trainer
- Treadmills
- Lite Gait System
