Computerized
Gait Analysis Lab
 |
Computerized
gait analysis has two components:
- In-shoe pressure
mapping is used to determine pressure points when walking, helping
to prevent ulcers and injuries.
|
- Computerized
gait analysis with three-dimensional motion cameras is used to help identify
and aid in the treatment of orthopedic problems related to the way the
patient walks, as well as in preventative sports medicine, and performance
sports medicine.
|
Who benefits from this service?
- Patients afflicted with diabetes and poor sensation, and who are prone
to foot ulcers.
- Individuals with poor circulation who also have foot or toe contractures
predisposing them to foot complications.
- Patients who have had full or partial amputation. Amputation alters weight
distribution patterns and is often a precursor to further complications if
not addressed properly.
- Rheumatoid or osteoarthritis patients with alterations in joint integrity
or function that alter the weight-bearing surface of the foot.
- Runners, joggers and athletes who experience shin splints, stress fractures,
ligament pain and other foot, ankle and knee concerns.
- Patients with neuromuscular disorders, such as cerebral palsy, which lead
to altered patterns of gait.
- Knee, hip or back pain patients who experience symptoms associated with
poor foot mechanics.
Computerized gait
analysis also is used for:
- Basic foot, heel, knee and back pain
- Preventative sports medicine and sports injury treatment
- Performance sports medicine
- Industrial and occupational medicine
- Stroke patients
- Multiple sclerosis patients.
