CHF Management Program
The CHF Outpatient Care Management Program provides ongoing education, monitoring and support for patients with CHF and their families. Using a multidisciplinary approach, we collaborate with primary care physicians, cardiologists and other specialists to help reduce hospitalizations and improve the patient’s quality of life. Patients with chronic CHF are eligible for this program with physician approval. There is no fee to participate. For more information or to speak with a case manager, please call 314-364-3761.

Cardiac Rehabilitation
Rehabilitation after heart and vascular surgery or a diagnosis of cardiovascular disease can help patients safely resume normal activities and improve overall health. St. John’s Mercy offers extensive inpatient and outpatient cardiac rehabilitation programs. For more information, call 314-251-6337.

Fitness First
This individual fitness program for those with risk factors for heart disease or who need a cardiovascular exercise program. The program is supervised by health care professionals, including exercise specialists and registered nurses who work under a board-certified sports medicine medical director. CPR
St. John’s Mercy is an American Heart Association (AHA) Training Center and is the fifth-largest CPR training center in the United States. Our AHA Training Center trains more than 28,000 people each year. More than 1,300 instructors teach a variety of courses to health care professionals, emergency medical service technicians, and members of the community. Courses include CPR, Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and PALS. For more information, call 314-251-6198.

Smoking Cessation
St. John’s Mercy provides adult smoking cessation advice and counseling to all heart attack and heart failure inpatients prior to discharge. For outpatients, we offer:
- Smoking cessation courses in conjunction with the American Lung Association; for more information call 314-251-5649.
- Auriculotherapy, an alternative smoking cessation treatment that is painless and involves electrical stimulation of acupuncture points on the ear.. For more information, call the St. John’s Mercy Center for New Health Options at 636-207-2200.

Mended Hearts
Mended Hearts is a national, nonprofit organization for individuals with heart disease or those who have had a cardiac event or surgery.
