Melissa
Norton, MD
Dr. Norton obtained her medical degree from the
Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri, after graduating
summa cum laude from Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire, with
a bachelor's degree in genetics and developmental and cell biology. While at
Dartmouth, she was Khi Beta Kappa, a Rufus Choate Scholar and a member of the
Golden Key Honor Society. She also served as a teaching assistant for students
in chemistry, Latin, and biology, and performed clinical research at Dartmouth
and the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in Richland, Washington. Dr. Norton
completed her residency at the Washington University School of Medicine's Barnes-Jewish
Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. During her residency, she received additional
inpatient and outpatient training at the Cochran Veteran's Administration Hospital,
maintained a half-day continuity clinic with more than 200 patients (many of
them Bosnian and Russian immigrants), and helped provide clinical and premedical
training for Washington University medical students. A Mercy Hospitalist since
2002, Dr. Norton is board certified in internal medicine.
