Breast and Cervical Cancer
In June 1990, the U. S. Congress passed the Breast and Cervical Cancer Mortality Prevention Act of 1990 (Public Law: 101-354) to establish the NBCCEDP (National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program), aimed at reducing the morbidity and mortality rates of breast and cervical cancers.

"Show Me Healthy Women" is the name of Missouri's Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Project (BCCCP). Missouri women can qualify for free breast and cervical cancer screenings at health care facilities in their home areas. The screenings include breast and pelvic exams, mammograms, and Pap tests.

There are residency, income, and age requirements that women must meet to qualify for these free screenings. The David C. Pratt Cancer Center at St. John’s Mercy is a provider for breast cancer screening. For more information, please call 314-251-6400.

As part of our health care mission, St. John’s Mercy also offers screenings to the underserved in partnership with community organizations. For information, please call 314-251-6400.
