Medication Information for: Vitamins or Vitamins with Iron (Poly-Vi-Sol or ViDaylin, Poly-Vi-Sol with Iron or ViDaylin with Iron)

Why? Vitamins are given to supplement the baby's diet. Vitamins with iron help babies build healthy red blood cells. Continue giving vitamins until your doctor decides they are no longer needed.

How? Give vitamins as ordered. Vitamins are usually given once or twice a day. If you miss a dose, do not try to make up for it by giving more. Vitamins should be stored in the refrigerator. There is not need to shake vitamins before measuring the dose.

Your baby's dose is:

___________ml, ____________times a day at __________o'clock and ____________o'clock.

Measure the dose and mix it with small amount of milk before you give it to the baby.

Any problems? Most side effects of vitamins would be seen in the hospital before the baby goes home. Some people think that iron in baby vitamins can cause constipation. Iron also stains clothes, so be careful when you measure the medicine. Iron is very poisonous if too much is given.

ALWAYS KEEP MEDICATIONS OUT OF THE REACH OF CHILDREN.

Check your supply before vacations, holidays and other times when you may not be able to obtain more.
