| Our story started with a horrific headache on a Sunday and a twelve week premature baby boy six days later. Being first time parents and not spending a lot of time around babies, we had no idea what to expect with a baby and now he was so tiny. Our 82-day stay in the NICU was wonderful of our situation. We rode the ups and downs of the NICU rollercoaster with the typical victories and disheartening set backs. My husband and I listened to what all the doctors, nurses and staff told us; we still follow some of their routine now several years later.
Now at three years old, the only sign that Gregory was so premature is his height. He is as smart as a tack, knowing 11 colors, counting to 20 most days, recognizing his letters, and a healthy imagination. Gregory is ready for preschool this fall, and we are just in amazement at everything he has overcome and achieved in his three years. We owe a lot of this to the excellent staff at St. John’s.
