In the NICU

Current

We were surprised to find ourselves pregnant after already having 4 boys at home. We were really surprised to find out that we were having twins and pleased to find out that we were having twin girls.

The pregnancy was pretty normal except that 32 weeks I was having contractions. I spent the night in the hospital and my daughters were born the next morning.

As the days went by, we found out that Michelle had a serious heart problem and Meghan had some lung issues. Michelle died after 16 days. Meghan came home after 21 days.

Meghan is a healthy young woman. She had no lingering problems from her premature birth, just the usual childhood illnesses. She excelled in school and is a good athlete. She is in medical school and hopes someday to work with children in some capacity.
