EMERGENCY MEDICINE
St.
John’s Mercy Children's Hospital provides immediate, highly specialized
pediatric emergency services 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
What to Expect at the Emergency Department
When you arrive at the Emergency
Department, you will be greeted at the triage desk. Depending on your child’s
condition, you will either be immediately taken to a treatment area or you
will be directed to continue at the triage
desk.
Following triage, you and
your child will meet with a team of care givers in the treatment room. You
will be seen
by one of our pediatric providers who
will assess your child's condition. If necessary, a specialist may be
called in to participate in your child’s care. Your child’s physician
will then discuss any necessary treatments with you.
The staff at St. John’s
Mercy Children's Hospital is committed to easing the burden of ill and injured
children.
We strive to create a child-friendly
atmosphere, and we are proud of our employees who are experienced in treating
routine as well as complex medical issues.
