Orthotic
Evaluation and Management
Therapists
work closely with physicians, orthotists, and ped-orthotists in determining
the need for upper and lower extremity bracing. Appropriate orthotic devices
are selected and fabricated to maximize support and function of the limbs. Patients
are instructed in donning and doffing, wear schedules, care of the braces, and
use of the braces during everyday activities.
Custom Foot
Orthotics
St. John¹s Mercy Sports & Therapy has a specially trained physical
therapist who can assess your need for custom-made foot orthotics. The first
session consists of a physical examination and the casting of an individual¹s
feet. These casts are then shipped to a manufacturer who will make your customized
orthotics from these molds. The style of the orthotic is selected based on
the needs of the individual. The orthotics can be made to wear in casual or
athletic shoes, as well as dress shoes, including high heels. We offer these
orthotics at a significantly lower price in comparison to other fabrication
methods.
