“Ask the Doctor” Series Begins at St. John’s Mercy Hospital

St. John’s Mercy Hospital will host a series of lectures on health-related topics whereby guests will have the opportunity to “Ask the Doctor” their questions.

Doctors with St. John’s Mercy will offer presentations on topics related to their specialties and then open a question and answer session. Upcoming topics include heart health, pain management and issues geared specifically to just men and just women.

“The Ask the Doctor series allows the public, in a relaxed atmosphere, to speak directly with medical experts to learn about health care topics that mean the most to them,” said Dr. John Moore, director of Pain Management Solutions at St. John’s Mercy Hospital and one of the many scheduled speakers. “It’s also a way for the hospital and its affiliated physicians to inform the community about the many advances in medicine and the availability of new treatments.”

All Ask the Doctor sessions will include refreshments and some will offer a light meal. Admission is free. The entire event will last about 60 minutes.

“Our hope is that everyone will stay as long as people are still asking questions,” said Dr. Moore. “And if you don’t want to ask your questions in front of the audience, we will have note cards available. People can write down their questions and turn in the note card any time during the lecture to be included in the Q&A.”

St. John’s Mercy Hospital will launch its Ask the Doctor series June 18 at the Hospital with family and sports medicine physician Chris Adams, MD. Dr. Adams will present: “Preventative Men’s Health.”

“Alarming statistics show that men’s health is at great risk. On average, men die almost 6 years younger than women and suffer higher mortality rates for the top causes of death,” said Dr. Adams. “The lives of hundreds of thousands of men will continue to be threatened unless immediate action is taken to combat this growing crisis.”

“As part of my presentation, I’ll talk about important health measures to prevent major causes of death,” said Dr. Adams. “I personally invite men of all ages to attend this informative presentation.”

Ask the Doctor will be held each calendar month. Times and dates vary based on each doctor’s availability. The schedule is as follows:

  • “Preventative Men’s Health” with Dr. Christopher Adams, a specialist in family and sports medicine, at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 18. Refreshments will be served.
  • “Geriatric Pain” with pain specialist Dr. John Moore, director of Pain Management Solutions, and Dr. Gary Rosas, a specialist in geriatric medicine, at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 16. Refreshments will be served.
