St. John's Mercy Medical Group Family & Geriatric Medicine
Family and Geriatric Medicine

Gary Rosas, MD
Jennifer Stearnes, MD

Husband and wife team, Gary Rosas, M.D., and Jennifer Stearnes, M.D., joined St. John’s Mercy Medical Group in 2008. Both Drs. Rosas and Stearnes obtained combined Bachelor’s and medical degrees from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine in Kansas City, Mo., and completed Family Medicine residencies at the University’s Truman Medical Center in Lakewood, Mo.

During his residency, Dr. Rosas also earned an MBA in Health Care Leadership from Rockhurst University in Kansas City. In early 2007, both physicians worked for Acute Care, Inc., at Hedrick Medical Center in Chillicothe, Mo., and Wright Memorial Hospital in Trenton, Mo. In mid-2007, the couple moved to Kailua, Hawaii, where Dr. Rosas completed a Fellowship in Geriatrics at the University of Hawaii. Dr. Stearnes worked as a civilian contractor for the Hawaii Naval Health Clinic at the Kaneohe Bay Marine Corps Base, providing medical care to dependents of active military personnel.

Both Dr. Rosas and Dr. Stearnes are board-certified in Family Medicine and are members of the American Academy of Family Physicians. In addition, Dr. Rosas is board-eligible in Geriatrics. Both are on staff at St. John's Mercy Hospital, where Dr. Rosas is the Medical Director of the Hospice Program.

A unique feature of this practice is their work with therapy dog, Buddy, who visits the office regularly and also visits area nursing homes. To read more about Buddy, click here to download our newsletter.
