St. John’s Mercy Hospital Receives Gold Seal of Approval from Joint Commission

By demonstrating compliance with the Joint Commission’s national standards for health care quality and safety, St. John’s Mercy Hospital has earned the Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval.

Founded in 1951, The Joint Commission is dedicated to continuously improving the safety and quality of the nation's health care through voluntary accreditation. The Joint Commission's comprehensive accreditation process of St. John’s Mercy Hospital occurred the week of February 11. This award recognizes St. John’s Mercy Hospital, staff and physicians as being dedicated to complying with the Joint Commission’s state-of-the-art standards on a continuous basis. The Gold Seal of Approval demonstrates that the Hospital has achieved excellence and has met the highest standards in terms of patient safety and quality health care as measured on a nationwide level.  To earn and maintain the Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval, an organization must undergo an on-site survey by a Joint Commission survey team every three years.

“It takes a dedicated team of individuals to earn and maintain this

accreditation of excellence,” stated Terri L. McLain, president.   “I wish

to congratulate our entire St. John’s Mercy Hospital staff, physicians and

volunteers for once again being recognized for our high standards of

safety and quality health care for our patients and the communities we

serve.”
