St. John’s Mercy Hospital Welcomes Dr. Joseph Polizzi

Joseph L. Polizzi, M.D., F.A.C.C., will be joining the staff of St. John’s Mercy Hospital in Washington, Mo. and the cardiologists of St. John’s Mercy Heart and Vascular, on Aug. 1. Dr. Polizzi’s office is located at 851 East Fifth Street, Suite 304. He will offer full-time cardiovascular services for patients in Washington. Dr. Polizzi is in practice with cardiologist John Brunts, M.D., who will continue to see patients on a part-time basis in the Washington office.

Dr. Polizzi has been a practicing cardiologist in the St. Louis area since 2007. Prior to that, he was an assistant clinical professor of medicine at Saint Louis University Health Sciences Center for three years.

Dr. Polizzi is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease. He is also certified by the National Board of Echocardiography in adult comprehensive echocardiography. Dr. Polizzi received his medical training at St. Louis University School of Medicine, where he served as chief resident during his internal medicine residency and completed his cardiology fellowship.

Dr. Polizzi was named as one of St. Louis’ Best Doctors, as chosen by his physician peers, in St. Louis magazine’s August 2009 issue.

Dr. Polizzi’s areas of clinical interest include coronary artery disease, preventive cardiology and noninvasive imaging, including echocardiography and nuclear cardiology.

Dr. Polizzi’s grandparents lived in the Franklin County area and he visited them often during his youth. He and his wife, Ann Marie, and their four daughters are now living in the Washington area. Dr. Polizzi stated, “ In addition to being very excited about coming to Washington to practice cardiology, my family and I cannot wait to call this community home.”
