Become a Volunteer in Washington

Coppeans, Manager of Volunteer Services, at 636-239-8272 to schedule a volunteer
placement interview.
We will meet with you
to explore your interests and your personal goals regarding volunteering
at St. John’s Mercy Hospital. Together,
we will discuss the various volunteer opportunities and
ways that your interests and goals can be met.
You will be asked to complete
an application form, available on
this site. After you are accepted as a volunteer,
you will be asked to:
- Purchase a volunteer
jacket or vest (under $16);
- Obtain two tuberculosis
skin tests and a drug test (available at no charge
through St. John's Mercy Corporate Health);
- Attend a volunteer orientation;
- Train in your selected
area.
Prior to beginning volunteer
service, every volunteer is required to attend an orientation to become familiar
with St. John’s Mercy Hospital and the Volunteer
Program. Topics include:
- An overview of our mission
and Mercy values
- An introduction to
the Hospital and tour of the facility
- Infection control
- Volunteer responsibilities
- Dress codes
- Hospital policies
- Hospital safety and
codes
- Professional ethics
- Patient confidentiality
(HIPAA)
- Volunteer benefits,
awards and services
Volunteer Service at St. John’s Mercy Hospital is a vital component of our hospital operations. We take pride in the fact
that we are selective in making volunteer placement
decisions. Along with our co-workers, volunteers are held to high standards of performance.
