Medal of Honor - U.S. Department of Health and Human Services
St. John’s Mercy Medical Center was awarded a Medal of Honor from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for achieving organ donation rates at or above 75 percent for a continuous 12-month period. St. John’s Mercy also was one of five Missouri hospitals to be recognized as a three-time Medal of Honor winner for achieving high organ donation rates. St. John’s Mercy has worked with Mid-America Transplant Services for the past three and a half years to help improve donation rates and identify clinical guidelines that enhance the viability of organs for transplant once donor consent is obtained.
