This new system relies on computers rather than paper and pen. Your physician and other caregivers may be making notes on the computer while talking with you. Entering the information in the moment ensures your electronic health record is as complete and up-to-date as possible. It also helps expedite care when a physician enters an order on the computer for a medication or lab test, the pharmacy and lab are notified in real time.
