Upon OR Fellowship Graduation
The orientees are expected to fully assume the role of clinical
nurses in the operating room after graduation. Duties to be assumed are weekends,
holidays, and call.
Call
There are three different call teams: Neuro, Ortho, and General. Call time
requirements per four week schedule will vary with staffing levels. All ‘on
call’ staff members are expected to arrive at work AND report to the
charge nurse within 30 minutes of being notified. Further details about call
will be discussed during the initial interview.
Schedule
All staff
members are required to work one Saturday shift per four week schedule.
Holiday Expectations
Holidays
are classified as either major or minor. There are three major holidays — Thanksgiving,
Christmas and New Year’s Day, and four minor holidays — Good
Friday, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and Labor Day. All staff members are
expected to work one major and one minor holiday per year. (Holiday work
is either in-house presence or on-call availability.)
