General Dentistry Rotations
John
F. Kennedy Clinic
Each
resident has the opportunity to spend 4 months providing
comprehensive dental care to the patients of the Medical
Center's JFK Clinic. Services are provided in the Department
of Dental Medicine Clinic (the practice of Drs. Waite and
McDonald) allowing the residents to function in a private
practice setting, with a chairside assistant and support
staff.
Senior
Care: Consultations, screenings and dental treatment at
the Medical Center's Skilled Nursing Facility and other Senior
Care Centers as necessary.
Hospital
Consultations: Dental consultations as requested by medical
staff on hospital inpatients. Approximately 10 consults per
month are requested for evaluation of hospitalized patients
and Residents provide the initial consultation service and
development recommended with their attending.
Operating
Room Cases: Residents participate in general and pediatric
OR cases for special needs patients with various attending
dentists. Approximately 2-4 cases per month are taken to the
operating room. Residents frequently provide much of this
care.
Emergency
Call: Residents gain experience in emergency dental treatment
and orofacial trauma through emergency call for the Dental
Clinics and the Emergency Room. Residents can provide Emergency
Call from their home.
