Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery
In
both the second and third year, a
5 week rotation in Urogynecology is provided.
Led by Dr. Veronikis, the residents work daily under his direction to
acquire the fund of knowledge and skill in these challenging cases. Techniques
of vaginal reconstruction, bladder neck suspension, correction for urinary
and rectal incontinence comprise the fundamentals of this rotation. Residents
have the opportunity to participate in an office evaluation weekly including
formal urodynamic studies as well as participating in surgery for these
patients.
Highly regarded as one of the outstanding
rotations at St. John's Mercy Medical Center, many residents elect to take
their fourth year elective time and further hone their vaginal operative
skills in this rotation.
Fourth year electives are available for visiting student physicians. Please click here for more information, or e-mail our Education Coordinator, Kay Edwards.
