St. John’s Mercy Children’s Hospital Offers Skills Course

St. John’s Mercy Children’s Hospital will offer the following skills courses in September. To register or get more information about additional locations and classes offered, please call 314-822-PEDS (7337) or visit www.stjohnsmercy.org/classes.

Infant and Child Care for Adoption

This four-week class helps families that are finalizing an adoption learn about the daily care and developmental needs of their new child. Normal behavior and development, common illnesses, safety and immunizations will be discussed. Fee: $65 per person or couple.

Sitter Skills

This course prepares novice babysitters for a safe and positive babysitting experience. Participants should be at least age 10 or older. Fee: $20 per child.

Home Alone

Children ages 9 to 11 learn simple first aid, safety and self-care techniques to use when home alone for short periods of time. A parent check list is included. Fee: $15 per person.

CPR for Family and Friends

Recommended for parents, grandparents and children ages 12 years and older. Adult, infant and child CPR skills are taught, along with management of an obstructed airway. Follows guidelines of the American Heart Association; participation card given upon completion.  Not a credentialing or certification class. Fee: $25 per person. All classes listed will be offered at St. John’s Mercy Medical Center, 615 S. New Ballas Road.
