Focused Care Nursing Fellowship
What is the
Fellowship?
The Family Focused Care fellowship is an extended orientation program designed
for graduate nurses and nurses who are coming to the acute care mother-baby setting
from other areas of health care.
The fellowship is
designed to:
- Provide an evidenced-based
didactic foundation
- Provide a supervised
clinical practicum.
- Prepare the nurse
to provide care for post-partum mothers ranging from normal to those
with high risk complications.
- Prepare the nurse
to care for newborns from birth through the first few days of life.
- Prepare the nurse
to care for newborns experiencing complications during the transitional
period and throughout the hospital stay.
- Prepare the nurse
to care for high-risk antepartum patients.
What Can
I Expect?
The fellowship includes 32 hours of class time and a minimum of six weeks
of clinical experience with a preceptor.
