Bridget Whitson
Wins Missouri Leadership Award
On
August 2, 2001, Bridget Whitson was awarded the Emergency Nursing Leadership
Award by the Missouri state chapter of the Emergency Nurses Association.
There were 38 nominees for six awards. The criteria for the Leadership
Award are as follows:
- Demonstrates leadership
in the advancement of nursing practice by providing opportunities for
staff education and autonomy.
- Supports nursing
staff and promotes positive performances.
- Manages in the
most cost-effective manner without sacrificing quality patient care.
- Advocates for the
emergency department within the hospital and throughout the health care
system.
- Demonstrates professionalism
in mannerisms, conflict resolution, and other personal communications.
The awards are distributed
annually and winners are determined by the Missouri State Chapter of Emergency
Nurses Association. Nominations are submitted by co-workers in essay format.
Laura Kuensting, Pediatric
Nurse Practitioner, says, "Bridget maintains a positive attitude
even in the most difficult times, and she supports the Emergency Department
staff with great devotion. I admire her perseverance and aspire to her
level of professionalism. I am delighted that others have also recognized
her leadership. She is most deserving of this award!"
