Become a Volunteer

Want
to join our team of volunteers? Please call or e-mail
Barbara Fradkin, Manager of Volunteer Services, at 314-251-6180 to schedule
a volunteer placement interview.
Barbara will
meet with you to explore your interests and your personal goals regarding volunteering
at St. John's Mercy Medical Center.
Together, you
and Barbara will discuss the various volunteer opportunities we have and ways
that your interests and goals can be met.
You will be
asked to complete an application form. After you are accepted as a volunteer,
you will be asked to:
- Complete a brief form
of your health and inoculation history
- Obtain a tuberculosis
skin test (available at no charge at St. John's Mercy)
- Attend a mandatory volunteer
orientation.
Prior to beginning
volunteer service, every volunteer is required to attend an orientation to become
familiar with St. John's Mercy Medical Center and the volunteer program.
Orientation lasts approximately three hours. Topics include:
- An overview of our Mission
and Mercy Values
- An introduction to the
Medical Center
- Volunteer responsibilities
- Training and supervision
- Dress codes
- Hospital policies
- Emergencies
- Professional ethics
- Volunteer benefits, awards
and services.
A high premium
is placed on volunteer service at St. John's Mercy Medical Center. We take
pride in the fact that we are selective in making volunteer placement decisions.
Our volunteers are held to high standards of performance. So we only accept
the best applicants!
We welcome
you to apply. We are always looking for more great volunteers. Please give us
a call at 314-251-6180 or e-mail
so that we can begin working together!
