Volunteer Opportunities

David C. Pratt Cancer Center (located on the campus of St. John's Mercy Medical Center)
Bookmobile carts: Volunteers are needed daily to take “Jean’s RED carts” around to patients. The carts contain relaxation, educational and diversional materials. There are also portable DVD players and DVD's, portable CD player and relaxation music, art supplies, cancer education materials, crossword puzzles and soduko puzzles and several hand held games. The cart is named for Jean Schroeder, an employee of SJMMC for over 30 years, who passed away from cancer.

Acute Therapy
Transporters needed between 10:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. to bring patients to and from therapy. Must be able to push wheelchairs and walk continuously.

St. John's Mercy Rehabilitation Hospital (located in Chesterfield)
Transporters needed to assist in transporting patients to and from therapy, assisting patients and staff with serving meals, and various other patient-related activities. Must be able to push wheelchairs and walk continuously.

Radiology Department (located at St. John's Mercy Medical Center)
The X-ray department in the main hospital has openings for escorts to walk patients from the main desk to Ultrasound. There
would be some clerical work at the desk as well. Hours are weekdays from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Center for New Health Options (located in Town & Country Commons – Ballwin)
Looking for a few good women and men to meet, greet and escort patients Monday through Friday, between 9 a.m.– 1 p.m.

GI Lab (located at St. John's Mercy Medical Center)
The GI Department has some openings for greeters to welcome patients arriving for tests. Act as a “liaison” between the family and recovery staff to escort family when patient is ready for discharge.

Fertility Care Services (located in Creve Coeur)
If you like to file, stuff envelopes and perform a variety of other clerical work, the staff at FCS would very much like to talk with you! The department is located on Ballas Road, between Ladue and Olive. Parking is very good.

Child Life (located in the Pediatrics Department at St. John's Mercy Medical Center)
Our Child Life staff on Pediatrics has several openings during the weekday to help supplement their patients’ stay with activities. The shifts or mornings and/or afternoons.

Mercy Ambassadors (located at St. John's Mercy Medical Center)
Patient Relations is in need of volunteers to call on patients to extend Mercy values in the spirit of hospitality by offering assistance, answering questions and helping to resolve any problems associated with a patient’s hospitalization.

Community Dietitian Office (located at Mason & Olive)
Volunteers are needed between 9 a.m.- 2:30 p.m. to welcome patients and notify clinicians when patients arrive for their appointments. Other duties include light clerical work.
